For me it is always hard to approach women. There are so many questions to be answered before I approach a woman.
Is she married already? Am I really attractive to her? I'm an average looking guy. Te real problem is how to make interesting conversation with women?

What I found quite perplexing was why you did not take the initiative to call her instead of waiting for her to call you? You can be 5"10, financially secure and handsome however this is not going to make women throw themselves automatically at you.

I'm afraid the rules of the guys doing the chasing have not changed much over the thousands of years that we have been on this planet. If you have strong attractions for a girl and regardless of whether she has your phone number or not, until you become attractive to her, it would be advisable for you to do the chasing.
Bottom line: Do whatever is necessary to secure that first date with her. She won't know that you are not a player until she actually gets an opportunity to sit down and have a talk with you. So the sooner you get on that first date with her the sooner her misconceptions (if she has any) will be dispelled.
When you get an opportunity to go out with her (or any other girls in the future) show them what a great guy you are on the inside. You know that some of them will judge you wrongly so it will be up to you to prove to them that there is more to you than meets the eye. Show them how funny, charming and interesting you are and try to connect with her on that mental level. If you can do this then I'm sure that you won't remain single for long.
